Mail Order Monsters + Ghost Flute and Dice
Friday May 18th 2012
Playing at Mexicains Sans Frontieres with Ghost Flute and Dice (from Denmark) - a decription of Ghost Flute " Ghost Flute & Dice is a solo project by Mikkel Almholt. He figured out a very funky way to mic up his acoustic piano and run the sound through effect pedals. He does what guitarists have been doing for a looong time, but he does it with a piano. And it totally works! The result is an album of instrumental music that can be placed somewhere between Arthur Russell’s “World Of Echo” and Jan Johansson’s “Jazz på Svenska”."
We will be playing first, show starts at 8pm. Be sure to get there early to catch us!
MSF is at 120 S Division Ave #226, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503

Show at Vertigo-A-Go-Go!
Saturday November 5th 2011
We will be playing at Vertigo records in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday, November 5th for the Vertigo-A-Go-Go show, along with Wicker Basket, Royl Space, Invisible Mansion, Waxines, Lucky Shoreline, Jeff Finan & Jason Richardson.
We will be performing around 4pm! Expect some new material, and possibly our video projection (it will be fairly bright in there, so projection might not work well)
Our performances are Wednesday Sept 21st, Friday Sept 23rd, and Friday Sept 30th.
The shows will start at 9:00 pm, and end around 9:30.
We will be playing a wide range of Commodore 64 video game music, and our own original music, all exclusively through the C-64 audio chip. Our performance features live video projection on a 16 foot screen behind us, with scripted scenes of the group interacting in 8-bit video game worlds and much more! The videos feature work from within the group, and work from other local film and video artists as well.
Map and location description:
We will be located on the concrete stage at Ah Nab Awen park, right by the river in front of the Ford Museum. For a map of the site, click here. The link takes you to a map which is basically the Ford Museum, the stage area we are performing on is directly in front of the building down the short hill, right in front of the Grand River.
Here's a link to a photo of the park for those unfamiliar with area, the stage area we are performing on is located to the left between the flagpoles:
Our video for our original song Lisa, featuring the group interacting in 8-bit worlds. And in our custom made Commodore 64 armor outfits! This was a blast to put together.
Our video for our original song Jenny, featuring the group flying through space riding atop Commodore 64's. Filmed mostly in space, and at NASA. But not really.
Our video for our original song Calamiga, featuring tons of 80's commercials.
Jeep Command Video
A version of our video for the song Jeep Command, featuring us inside the Jeep Command world fighting the Jeep (the driver was not harmed). Green screen, camera work, effects and editing by Rich Vogel.
Artprize Promo Video
A sample of our video work overtop our original song 'Calamiga', as a promo for our Artprize 2011 shows next month. We will be adding more videos in the coming weeks!
